Description

Neutrinos have the unique characteristic of being able to propagate relatively unhindered from the depths of core-collapse supernovae (CCSNe). In this talk, I will introduce the neutrino messenger and discuss how it will facilitate the study of core-collapse physics. I will cover recent developments in such topics as the study of the stellar compactness, black hole formation, the red supergiant problem, and the diffuse signal of CCSN neutrinos. Time permitting, I will also walk through what may follow from the first moments of a Galactic supernova. http://arxiv.org/abs/astro-ph/0503321 http://arxiv.org/abs/0809.0403 http://arxiv.org/abs/0812.3157 http://arxiv.org/abs/0901.0568 http://arxiv.org/abs/1102.1977 http://arxiv.org/abs/1302.0287 http://arxiv.org/abs/1306.0559 http://arxiv.org/abs/1406.2415 http://arxiv.org/abs/1409.0006
